| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | Il progetto mira a studiare i frammenti di due antichi esegeti delle commedie di Aristofane, Simmaco e Faino, attraverso la realizzazione di un’edizione tradotta e commentata, finalizzata a indagare le strategie esegetiche dei due eruditi e il loro rapporto con gli altri esegeti del testo aristofaneo. In particolare, le attività prevedono: a) la realizzazione di un’edizione con testo e apparato critico, traduzione e commento delle testimonianze e dei frammenti di Simmaco e Faino; b) l’approfondimento degli interessi esegetici dei due eruditi, il loro collocamento nei rispettivi periodi storico-culturali di appartenenza e l’indagine sulla forma in cui i loro frammenti sono preservati e citati; c) l’inquadramento di Simmaco e Faino tra gli esegeti antichi di Aristofane, al fine di valutarne il debito rispetto all’esegesi precedente, i tratti di originalità e il contributo all’esegesi successiva; d) la valutazione del loro contributo ecdotico-esegetico al testo aristofaneo sopravvissuto. |
| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | The project aims to study the fragments of two ancient exegetes of Aristophanes’ comedies, Symmachus and Phainus, through the creation of a translated and commented edition, with the aim of investigating the exegetical strategies of the two scholars and their relationship with other Aristophanic exegetes. The project activities include: a) the production of an edition with text and critical apparatus, translation and commentary of the testimonia and fragments of Symmachus and Phainus; b) an in-depth study of the exegetical interests of the two scholars, their place in their respective historical and cultural periods, and an investigation into the form in which their fragments are preserved and cited; c) the framing of Symmachus and Phainus among the ancient exegetes of Aristophanes to assess their debt to previous exegesis, their original features and their contribution to subsequent exegesis; d) the evaluation of their ecdotic-exegetic contribution to the surviving Aristophanic text. |
