| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | Post-doc will devote his/her research to the study of astrology and of problems of meteorology in the vernacular. This work-package will examine 21 printed works and 29 manuscripts, among which Antonio Rocco’s Esercitationi filosofiche and Alessandro Piccolomini’s De la sfera del mondo. There are two main objectives. One will be to study what early-modern astronomy owes to vernacular texts, including those by the supporters of the Copernican revolution such as Giordano Bruno and Galileo Galilei. The other will be to assess how early-modern natural philosophy was affected by vernacular texts on meteorology, focusing on the major treatises of each discipline. The post-doc will produce at least three substantial articles peer-reviewed. The research may be carried out in English. The fellowship is intended to provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to pursue his/her own research while benefiting from the range of expertise at Università Ca' Foscari Venezia. |

The interview will be held in any case on 03 December 2015 at 10.00 am in the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Dorsoduro 3484/D, 30123 Venezia, III floor, room Mazzariol. The interview aims to assess the candidates' skill and expertise on the following subject: - Knowledge of the Aristotelian philosophy, - Knowledge of the relations between Aristotelianism , astrology and meteorology. Candidates living farther than 200 Kms from Venice may ask to hold a video interview. Please, select the option in your application, and indicate your Skype nickname. |
