Titolo del progetto di ricerca in inglese | Evaluation of the tectonic evolution of the Monte Gorzano area, with particular emphasis on the activity of the Monti della Laga fault |
Settore Concorsuale | 04 - Scienze della Terra |
S.S.D | GEO/03 - GEOLOGIA STRUTTURALE |
Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The Monte Gorzano area is situated in the Appenine fold‐and‐thrust belt. It is bisected by a principal fault in known as “Monti della Laga Fault or Monte Gorzano Fault”, belonging to the Central Apennines Fault System. This fault is a 30‐km NNW‐SSE oriented, SW dipping, and borders the Amatrice and Campotosto basins from north to south, respectively and its tectonic activity remains still not fully understood. The research involves geological analyses (i.e. stratigraphic, sedimentological, and facies analysis)and structural analysis of the area based on field work. The analyses of field data will be integrated with both well‐log and seismic data interpretation. The results will potentially provide an evolution model of the area with emphasis on the tectonic activity of Monte Gorzano Fault. |
