| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The first 3 months of activity will be devoted to the analysis of integration issues, between large scale context-aware services and Cloud architectures, while the central part of the project (6 months) will be used to define accurate solutions to the problems of integration identified during the first part. QoS constraints on service provision are to be carefully considered, to avoid unnecessary transmission of data and possibly develop context information directly on their device. In addition, proposed solutions will be verified both in real test beds and via simulations, to evaluate system feasibility and scalability. Finally, the last 3 months will serve to define an integrated solution to the general problem, which can be the basis of solution in the industry. At the same time, further tests will ascertain the scalability of the proposed solutions, highlighting limits and margins of operation and stimulating the adoption and the definition of standard protocols. |
| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | In the last decade, a technology revolution has led to the widespread diffusion of mobile devices capable of using wireless communications for the delivery of services, while, at the same time, the realization of such services in large scale mobile environments introduces many complexities still difficult to solve. To address these requirements of computational resources, we aim at the integration of mobile devices with Cloud computing, to allow the dynamic delivery of needed computational resources, easily adapting to the load demand request. This research proposal is focused on designing a support middleware for the integration of mobile and cloud architectures with two main directions: the possibility of transferring information from the mobile network to the Cloud, and vice versa; a really effective dynamic management of Cloud resource. Both activities are critical in the provisioning of such services in large scale environments and are to be solved for large scale scenarios. |
