| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The activity first considers the set up of a CFD model (finite volume formulation) for the solution of the complete problem of heat transport through the the pipe wall and the gas line when the a jet fire impinges a section of the pipeline. The analysis of results derived from the application of the model is then considered for the case of variation of several process parameters: thermal and geometric characteristic of the fire, geometric characteristics fo the pipeline, blowdown conditions, properties of gas and material of the pipe wall. |
| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | Aim of the project is the determination of conditions for the applicability of a simplified model for the analysis of integrity of pipes for gas plants when impinged by a jet fire. The model is oriented to the prediction of temperature and pressure conditions within the gas line and the pipe wall as a consequence of the Emergency conditions, accounting for the depressurization conditions induced by the blowdown process. In particular, simplified conditions are considered in which axial thermal conduction is neglected. The project thus examines results from a more complete model to recognize the applicability conditions for the simplified approach, by means of the comparison of the corresponding results. |
