| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The candidates to this allowance must be in possession of a Laurea Magistrale (MA) degree, obtained in Italy or abroad in disciplinary fields related to the proposed research, or be at the end of their Ph.D., in disciplinary fields related to research. A specific preparation is required on medieval philosophical texts (13th-15th century), a good knowledge of Latin, and some research experience on manuscripts. During the research activity, the grant holder will have to produce at least one scientific publication that accounts for the results of the work; collaborate in the census and cataloging of the manuscript collection of Santa Croce and in the population of the relative database; take part and collaborate in the organization of the initiatives (seminars, conferences, exhibitions, in Italy and abroad) foreseen as part of the PRIN 2017 project within which this call is registered. |
| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | This annual (renewable) allowance is issued for research on a group of philosophical texts preserved in the manuscript collection of the Florentine convent of Santa Croce. The investigation will mainly consist in the study and (partial) transcription of manuscripts now preserved at the Laurentian-Medicean Library and the Central National Library of Florence. These are mainly glosses on Aristotle's books on natural philosophy and logic (in Latin translation) and to Priscian's Institutiones Grammaticae, made before their acquisition by the Florentine convent or produced inside the convent itself between the end of the 13th and the end of the 15th century. The aim of the research is to investigate the impact of a specific reading of these texts on the elaboration of a Franciscan philosophy, in agreement or in disagreement with the main philosophical currents, in general, and philosophical-linguistic currents, in particular, of the time. |
