| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The research fellow will have the following tasks: 1) Systematic review of the literature on the use of antipsychotic drugs in patients with mood or personality disorders 2) Analysis of the guidelines currently available 3) Coordination of data collection on patients treated by mental health services 4) Production of reports on the quality and appropriateness of the treatments currently provided 5) Sharing of results in mental health services and co-planning of improvement actions 6) Production of a consensus document on the conduct of treatments with antipsychotic drugs, with particular reference to personality disorders. 7) Writing of scientific articles |
| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | In the past 20 years, the use of second generation antipsychotic drugs has extended beyond schizophrenia and today these products are widely used in mood disorders and personality disorders. Second generation antipsychotic drugs can cause weight gain, increased blood sugar, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, increased prolactin with worsening of health and quality of life. For this reason, the guidelines recommend regular monitoring of some laboratory parameters and short-term use in some situations. This project will be conducted at the Department of Mental Health and Pathological Addictions of the AUSL of Bologna; this is a cross-sectional observational study with the aim of evaluating the quality and appropriateness of antipsychotic treatments in patients in care of mental health services. The data will be collected by the Territorial Information System. |
