Titolo del progetto di ricerca in inglese | Microwave Remote Sensing Data Simulation and Inversion for the RETINA project |
Campo principale della ricerca | Engineering |
Sottocampo della ricerca | Electronic engineering |
Settore Concorsuale | 09 - Ingegneria industriale e dell'informazione |
S.S.D | ING-INF/02 - CAMPI ELETTROMAGNETICI |
Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The research will support the development of the RETINA project (PRIN 2022 PNRR). It is focused on the modeling, simulation, and inversion of microwave remote sensing data. The following geophysical products are considered: soil moisture, freeze thaw state, and above ground biomass. Both active and passive remote sensing data are considered. The modeling activity moves from previous studies performed at the DIET. The inversion will include physically informed Bayesian and machine learning approaches, in collaboration with the RETINA science team. The study is aimed at supporting the design of current and next-generation space missions for Earth observation, as well as the relevant post-processing procedures. This requires theoretical studies of the wave-media interactions and of efficient accurate techniques for the retrieval of bio-geophysical parameters from remote sensing data. |
