| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The project will be focused on the study of the melanopsin retinal ganglion cell (mRGC) system in healthy subjects, in patients with Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON) who show poor visual acuity but normal mRGC system function, and in MCI/AD patients. Several clinical and instrumental evaluations will be performed to characterize the visual pathway, and the effect of selective stimulation of the mRGC system on cognition and emotions will be evaluated using fMRI protocols. The specific objectives of the study are: a) characterization of involvement of the mRGC system in the neurodegenerative process; b) evaluation of relationship between the mRGC system and cognition and emotions in MCI, AD and LHON patients |
