Descrizione sintetica in italiano | The researcher will have to learn general knowledge on the several biomass systems for energy production, to be able to search for their emission factors and to evaluate which are the gaps in this topic, and then he/she will have to set up experimental tests to acquire missing information. He/she will have to reach a high level of expertise on several chemiometric analysis techniques of environmental data, in order to optimize source apportionment studies. The researcher will be involved in partnership projects with national and international research institutions. The aim is to train a professional figure that can interact in an inter-disciplinary level with scientific researchers and can both organize samplings, chemically characterize the obtained samples and undertake advanced statistical analysis. The formation will entail active participation to national and international conferences, meetings and schools. |
Descrizione sintetica in inglese | In order to obtain a complete picture of the environmental impact assessment of the several emission sources in the atmosphere, several approaches should be followed. First of all, new emission sources, or up-dated ones require the estimation of emission factors. Among these sources, nowadays biomass plants are always more spread. A topic of the research project will consist on implementing information about biomass plant emission factors, by taking into account different operating conditions of these systems. It is also important to foresee as accurately as possible, pollutant impact on the environment, by assessing pollutant fallouts on the surrounding area. In this outlook, it is fundamental to obtain information on the sources by environmental data. A topic of the project will then consist on the application of chemometric data analysis to information obtained by environmental monitorings. |
