| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | The main research activity concerns the study of insect societies as inspiration for the creation of algorithms, allowing cognition collective social, to be applied to robotic platforms. Just like a colonies and beehives are similar to a self-organizing "swarmy brain" that collects, digests and stores information, the robot will process information in a similar way. The research activities require in-depth knowledge, proven by professional activity or previous research in the field of biology and entomology. The ideal candidate is able to define the biological model in order to realize suitable artificial platform. The candidate is able to define the experimental protocols from the observation data, perform tests on living organisms, analyze the results obtained through statistical analysis, and apply them to the design and development of mechatronic systems. Furthermore, he/she is able to perform comparative studies between the robot's behavior with the animal one |
